In 1998, Lee Brown, PhD & Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, discovered that characterizing data performance was beneficial in process and product improvement. He realized that data characterization provided significant insight into the entire process and product reliability and performance. In 2000, TestSoft was founded by Lee to work on test related projects. Lee decided to modernize his data performance strategy in 2007 with the vision of forming his own analytical software company.
TestSoft foresaw that capturing, characterizing, and analyzing all data (passed and failed) would be beneficial to process improvement. Lee realized the best way to harvest vast amounts of data would be to automate the process. His business plan involved a new breed of "data collection and analysis" by characterizing and analyzing more than failure data. The benefit became obvious for improved process reliability and economic payback based on its performance.
The founder named the venture TestSoft because the product would typically be used in a test environment. Hence, in 2008 he is rolling out the product and related services that would enable companies to improve their processes more effectively and efficiently.
